  • The benefits AND risks of 
    • Intervention
    • Non-intervention
    • Alternative intervention

Remember:

  • The patient must have a clear understanding of both the risks of death and disability
  • Given appropriate advice for review or follow-up
  • Consideration for the patient to be discharged into the care of a responsible adult

Documentation

  • Notes should be made about the discussion not just the decision made by the patient
