Integration of knowledge across disciplines

Reviewing old PBL cases with your newly found knowledge is an excellent way of reinforcing knowledge

Even better is to interview and assess a patient on the ward who has a similar problem

A SUGGESTED APPROACH TO PRE-CLINICAL PBL

Case based problems provide the perfect opportunity to find the clinical relevance of the material. Here's how:

Step 1 - Get an overview of the clinical condition

Step 2 - Relate this to the clinical medicine

Step 3 - Investigate the mechanisms of the Clinical Science

Step 4 - Expand your understanding

Step 5 - Review the treatments

Step 6 - Investigate the mechanisms of the Therapeutics

Step 7 - Reinforce the links

Step 8 - Review each complication using the above schema

e.g. recovering renal failure and inappropriate diuresis
