Woman's & Children's Hospital Guidelines for Admission
- Burns to 7% or more of the body surface [Chart to calculate this]
- Burns to face, neck, genitalia, hands and feet
- Full thickness burns
- Chemical, steam or hot water ingestion
- Electrical burns
- Suspected respiratory or carbon monoxide poisoning to infants under 12 months
- Suspected non-accidental, self-inflicted or where the home situation may not provide the optimal environment for healing.
NB: If in doubt speak to the surgical registrar on call.
