Mandibular teeth

• Buccinator/External to the body of the mandible
  • Below attachment – facial swelling
  • Above attachment - intra oral swelling
• Mylohyoid/Internal to body of the mandible
  • Below – deep sublingual space
  • Above – superficial sublingual space
  • Anteriorly – submental space
• Masseter/External to the ramus of the mandible
  • In between – sub-masseteric space
  • Laterally – temporal space
• Medial pterygoid/Internal to the ramus of mandible
  • Laterally – pterygomandibular space
  • Medially – lateral pharyngeal space
  • Posteriorly – retropharyngeal space

Maxillary teeth

• Buccinator/Laterally
  • Above – facial swelling
  • Below – intraoral swelling
• Hard palate/Medially
  • Palatal abscess
• Maxillary sinus/Superiorly
  • Maxillary sinusitis
