Help. I need some help\u2019<\/li>\n<li class=\"_2cuy _509q _2vxa\"><strong><span class=\"_5yi-\">A<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 \u201cI will then <strong>position<\/strong> <sup>^<\/sup> the person&#8217;s head and <strong><span class=\"_5yi-\">open the airway<\/span><\/strong> like this\u201d. \u201cI will gently <strong><span class=\"_5yi-\">suction<\/span><\/strong> if there is any blood, vomitus and secretions then look, listen and feel for breathing\u2026.if that doesn\u2019t work and assuming there is no neck trauma I will give a <strong><span class=\"_5yi-\">chin lift<\/span> <\/strong>and check again\u2026\u2026if that doesn\u2019t work I will provide a <strong><span class=\"_5yi-\">jaw thrust<\/span><\/strong> and check again\u2026<\/li>\n<li class=\"_2cuy _509q _2vxa\"><strong><span class=\"_5yi-\">B<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 \u201cIf they are not breathing * I will give <strong><span class=\"_5yi-\">2 effective rescue breaths until the chest rises<\/span><\/strong> like this\u201d<\/li>\n<li class=\"_2cuy _509q _2vxa\"><strong><span class=\"_5yi-\">C<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 \u201cI will then <strong><span class=\"_5yi-\">check for a pulse<\/span><\/strong> in the femoral or brachial artery\u2026\u2026.if there is no pulse I will <strong><span class=\"_5yi-\">commence compressions<\/span><\/strong> <sup>#<\/sup> <em>over the <span class=\"_5yi_\">lower half<\/span> of the sternum to <span class=\"_5yi_\">1\/3rd the depth of the chest<\/span> at a <span class=\"_5yi_\">rate of 100-120 compressions a minute <\/span><\/em>like this\u2026.<span class=\"_5yi-\">Every <strong>15 compressions I will give 2 breaths<\/strong><\/span>\u2026.I will <strong><span class=\"_5yi-\">confirm if help<\/span><\/strong> has arrived\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"_2cuy _3dgx _2vxa\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"_2cuy _19ii _2vxa\">^ Head positioning should be<\/div>\n<div class=\"_2cuy _19ii _2vxa\"><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"_2cuy _19ii _2vxa\">Neutral position or towel roll under shoulders for infant<\/li>\n<li class=\"_2cuy _19ii _2vxa\">Head on small towel therefater<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"_2cuy _19ii _2vxa\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"_2cuy _19ii _2vxa\">* For adults<\/div>\n<div class=\"_2cuy _19ii _2vxa\"><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"_2cuy _19ii _2vxa\">Skip straight from<strong> \u201cIf they are not breathing\u201d<\/strong> to <strong><span class=\"_5yi-\">\u201cI will then check for a pulse\u201d<\/span> <\/strong>without giving rescue breaths.<\/li>\n<li class=\"_2cuy _19ii _2vxa\">Instead of <em>\u201c<span class=\"_5yi_\">every 15 compressions I will give 2 breaths\u201d <\/span><\/em>say<strong><span class=\"_5yi-\"> \u201cevery 30 compressions I will give 2 breaths\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"_2cuy _19ii _2vxa\"><span class=\"_5yi-\"># <\/span>Compression technique should be<\/div>\n<div class=\"_2cuy _19ii _2vxa\"><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"_2cuy _19ii _2vxa\">Two finger or Encircling thumbs up to a small infant<\/li>\n<li class=\"_2cuy _19ii _2vxa\">One hand up to primary school age<\/li>\n<li class=\"_2cuy _19ii _2vxa\">Two hands after primary school age<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.resus.org.uk\/resuscitation-guidelines\/paediatric-basic-life-support\/\">Resus UK &#8211; BLS guidelines<\/a> for more information<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tweet Memorising a script will make re-accreditation easy and less stressful This one is for Paediatrics&#8230;.
