The management of violence can involve a combination of psychological strategies, physical restraint and pharmacological sedation

  • Psychological strategies – allowing the patient to control their own behaviour establishment of communication and trust.

  • Pharmacological sedation –  sedation to control behaviour.

  • Physical measures – a show of force and/or physical restraint which should always be accompanied by sedation
